A number of shows at Netflix are in the news with renewals.
Romantic drama Virgin River has been renewed for a fourth and fifth season.
The series is based on Robyn Carr’s book series of the same name and follows Mel Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge), working as a midwife and nurse practitioner in a remote Northern California town where she meets local bartender Jack Sheridan (NZ actor Martin Henderson). The cast also includes Colin Lawrence, Jenny Cooper, Lauren Hammersley, Annette O’Toole, Tim Matheson, Benjamin Hollingsworth, Grayson Gurnsey, Sarah Dugdale, Zibby Allen and Marco Grazzini.
Unscripted series My Unorthodox Life is getting a second season.
The show stars fashion executive Julia Haart, who left the ultra-Orthodox community in which she was raised to conquer the modern world. The series follows her and her four children as they navigate life since leaving their extreme religious Jewish community.
Season 2 will feature more “fashion, family, female empowerment, faith, fabulousness, and of course, Haart,” according to Netflix.
Meanwhile espionage thriller Hit & Run is ending at one season despite ending with a cliffhanger. The series followed Segev (Lior Raz) investigating the hit-and-run death of his wife, Danielle (Kaelen Ohm). Filmed both in the United States and in Israel it was a big budget production hit with pandemic delays.
