In March, no channel held the top spot in our U.S. Top 50 for two consecutive weeks. In only took 12 days of April to reverse that trend.

The channel that led our American ranking last week is still #1 now, and based on its current pace, it’s the favorite to top the chart again next week.

Chart Toppers

That channel is Cocomelon – Nursery Rhymes. Over seven days, the animation hub owned by Moonbug registered 545.7 million weekly views to secure its standing atop our U.S. ranking. By increasing its viewership 7%, Cocomelon managed a week-over-week increase while the two channels closest to it lost traffic.

The first of those two contenders, Kids Diana Show, experienced a week-over-week viewership dip of just 1%. That allowed the Florida-based family vlog to hold onto its status as U.S. runner-up. Its 416.6 million weekly views helped its subscriber total surpass 93 million. And that’s only on one of the channels Diana and her family operate on YouTube.

After leading this chart twice during March, Like Nastya has now finished third for two straight weeks. The home of the Russian-born, U.S.-based child star earned 327.7 million weekly views over our most-recent measurement period. That was good enough to secure the #3 spot in the U.S. Top 50 even though it was 13% less viewership than what Nastya and her family recorded seven days ago.

Lanky Box went in the right direction this week, riding an 11% uptick to a second-straight seat in the #4 position. The hub for gaming, entertainment, and comedy content has a broad base, but it has found a passionate audience that pushes it toward the top of this chart week after week. In our latest count, those fans delivered 283.9 million weekly views.

That Little Puff rounds out this week’s U.S. top five. It’s one of the only YouTube Shorts channels in that group and is the sole newcomer since last week. The feline cooking channel secured 251.4 million weekly views.

Top Gainers

Will Smith’s Oscar Sunday antics have generated wide-reaching ripples, and some of those reverberations are being felt on YouTube. Now that a video featuring The Slap has become one of the fastest-growing clips ever, there is a growing appetite for awards show content. One hub benefitting from that renewed interest is Celebrity Observer.

Celebrity Observer bills itself as a “one stop shop for all entertainment, celebrity news, gossip and much more.” It’s also a shop for cosmetic products, if the affiliate links in some of its video descriptions are any indication. The channel sticks to its bread-and-butter on YouTube Shorts, and celebrity-driven clips from the 2022 Grammys have worked wonders for the Observer. The channel’s most-watched video is cute moment from the show, featuring Taylor Swift and Alicia Keys’ son. The clip has more than 64.2 million views so far.

We’ve seen the impact Taylor Swift can have on our U.S. Top 50, and she helped Celebrity Observer to its best chart position yet. The channel got 81.8 million weekly views in our latest count, which pushed it up to 38th place in our American ranking. Its 51% week-over-week growth was the second-biggest increase in the U.S. Top 50 this week. And though the Grammys are over, there’s always another awards show around the corner for Celebrity Observer to share.

Channel Distribution

This week, there are 25 YouTube Shorts channels in the U.S. Top 50.
