Even though the last few months have brought some significant changes to our US top 50, the last week in April was a fairly routine one, at least as far as our star-spangled ranking is concerned. Kid-friendly channels continue to rule the roost, with a number of US-based short-form creators finding spots in the chart as well.

Chart Toppers

Cocomelon – Nursery Rhymes isn’t just the most popular YouTube channel based in the US. When it comes to weekly viewership, the California-based animation studio is in a stratosphere all its own — at least as far as American channels are concerned. Its latest seven-day viewership total is 621.9 million weekly views, which is almost 40% more traffic than wgat any other US-based channel received over that time period. You have to go all the way down to 379.5 million weekly views before you find this week’s US runner-up, the Ukranian-American family vlog Kids Diana Show.

Kids Diana Show finished fourth in this ranking last week, and the channel it supplanted to reach the #2 spot has itself fallen back to third place. Vlad and Niki received 370.1 million weekly views during our latest measurement period. I feel that’s still a mightily impressive total for the two Florida-based toddlers.

Like Nastya dropped one spot in our latest ranking as well. Like Kids Diana Show and Vlad and Niki, Like Nastya has succeeded by offering viewers the adventures of a titular kid. In our latest chart, that formula produced 368.3 million weekly views for Like Nastya, which was good enough for fourth place.

Toys and Colors rounded out the American top five for the second-straight week. The bright and friendly destination added 275.4 million weekly views to its lifetime total.

Top Gainers

We often see games like Minecraft and Roblox featured within our Top 50 charts, and its natural to wonder what exactly makes these games so popular. Their family-friendly airs are certainly part of the equation, but if you were to boil Roblox‘s success down to its all-ages approach, you’d miss the aspects that make it such a brilliant creativity tool.

Enter CookieSwirlC, a California-based creator who placed 14th in our latest US Top 50. Cookie is mostly a Roblox player, but by accessing user-created maps within the game, she is able to reach multiple communities at once. In one recent video, she played a user-generated version of an upcoming Five Nights At Freddy’s game mode, all contained within Roblox. Both of those games have wide audiences online, and Cookie brought all those fans to her channel. Peruse CookieSwirlC, and you’ll find many videos that reference multiple pop culture franchises at once.

This, it seems, is a recipe for big viewership. Over our latest seven-day measurement period, CookieSwirlCreceived 142.7 million weekly views. There may only be so many Roblox fans in the world, but the game is a gateway into whichever creative levels its users can dig up — and that’s a big reason why it’s such a popular choice among YouTube-based gamers.
