At the top of our latest chart cataloging the week’s top 50 most-viewed US YouTube channels, there was little movement. Though most of the top five channels in the ranking saw significant viewership increases over the last measurement period, none generated enough momentum to pass any competitors, and as a result, the uppermost portion of the chart was completely unchanged from the previous week.

Chart Toppers

Cocomelon – Nursery Rhymes got more views during the week of March 30 than any other channel in the world, so logic dictates that the California-based children’s animation studio is also #1 in our US-specific chart as well. Its 824 million views over the measured period equaled a 10% week-over-week increase, so if the idea of a channel getting more than four-fifths of a billion views in seven days isn’t stupifying enough on its own, may I remind you that the channel seems more likely to trend up than anything else.

The rest of the top five, as was the case last week, was made up of family-friendly hubs and one super-popular film scene repository. Like Nastya‘s 677.1 million views was just about even with the channel’s total from last week’s charts; Kids Diana Show‘s viewcount of 561 million was good enough to hold onto third place; Movieclips‘ collection of movie videos and trailers reached a weekly total of 385.8 million views; and children’s vlog Vlad and Nikita ended up at #5 even though its 369.8 million views amounted to a 19% jump over last week’s viewership, the largest percentage increase of any channel in the current top five.

Top Gainers

Last week, NBC News was a top gainer thanks to some heavily-trafficked news videos related to the coronavirus. In the most recent charts, the Peacock is still in the top 50, as were fellow news outlets CNN, ABC News, and MSNBC, but while Americans are stuck inside, they aren’t just hanging onto updates about the spread of the virus. They’re also researching everyday home hacks and ideas for pranks they can pull on their cohabitants.

Some DIY channels, such as 5 Minute Hacks, have been among the top 50 most-viewed US YouTube channel for a few weeks, but others made significant upward moves in this week’s ranking. Troom Troom had one of the most notable upticks, snagging 59.8 million views, which was good for a 37% week-over-week increase and a jump from 71st position to 43rd. A “prank war” video, embedded below, was responsible for a few million of those views. A lot of the most-liked comments below the video explained why people are choosing this moment to tune into Troom Troom.
