Our chart cataloging the top 50 most viewed YouTube channels in the United States saw little movement this week. Most of the channels that made the list could be classified as either family-friendly channels, news organizations, music destinations, or gaming hubs. Meanwhile, the same five US channels topped all others, though their order has changed slightly since last week’s chart.
Cocomelon – Nursery Rhymes received 837 million YouTube views this week, which is only an increase of a few percentage points over its performance in our previous chart. That said, the California-based children’s animation studio remained both the most viewed channel in the United States and across the globe. Within red, white, and blue shores, Cocomelon holds a big lead over the next-most popular channel, Like Nastya, which accrued 645.9 million views in our latest chart. Kids Diana Show kept the top three as a family-friendly affair by reeling in 523.9 million views over the measured period.
The only changes to the top five concerned the final two positions, with WWE moving up one spot to #4 and Movieclips falling back to #5. The official YouTube home of World Wrestling Entertainment surged up 10% over its previous weekly viewership, registering a total of 352.3 million views in our latest US chart. Meanwhile, LA-based Movieclips (which is owned by Fandango) amassed 316.3 million views this week, giving it a lead of nearly 17 million hits over sixth-place finisher Vlad & Nikita.
In a week when Americans continued to hang onto every bit of COVID-19 information they could find, Fox News entered the US top 50, which means that all four of the major networks now have at least one of their news hubs on our list.
The biggest gainer among the chart toppers, however, was the Black Eyed Peas. The iconic pop-rap group, now in its fourth decade churning out hits, made their way into the American top 50 thanks in large part to the release of a new single. The music video for their song “Mamacita,” which features Puerto Rican sensation Ozuna and newcomer J. Rey Soul, has received more than 48 million views since arriving on YouTube on April 10.
In total, the official Black Eyed Peas YouTube channel received 67.5 million views this week, which was 22nd-best among US channels. The total represented a 128% increase over the previous week.
