An animation company that produces videos for young children out of its Southern California studio is continuing to trend toward the good. Thanks to a modest acceleration of its viewership over the past seven days, Cocomelon – Nursery Rhymes retained the top spot in our global Tubefilter chart, out-counting the Indian music video distributors of T-Series.

Chart Toppers

Cocomelon – Nursery Rhymes‘ view total over the past week was upwards of 879 million, a 7% increase over the YouTube-leading total it accumulated in the period measured by our previous Tubefilter chart. Cocomelon now has more than 56 billion lifetime views, an astonishing number that is itself far short of the 104.4 billion lifetime views accrued by the #2 channel in our current chart, T-Series. The indefatigable Indian channel scooped up 776.7 views over the past seven days, giving it a comfortable 150 million view cushion over third-place ranker Kids Diana Show, which moved up one spot in the chart thanks to 626.6 million weekly views and a 12% week-over-week increase.

This was quite a diverse week in our charts, with 17 different countries represented in the top 50, but the nine most-viewed channels of the week are all based in either the United States or India. The top five is completed by the Florida-based family vlog Like Nastya, which fell one spot to #4 despite picking up 613.2 million views this week, and SET India, which opened up a gap of nearly 200 million views over the #6 position. The South Asian entertainment hub picked up a total of 562 million YouTube views over the past seven days.

Top Gainers

What do people want to watch while socially distancing themselves within their homes? Apparently, in addition to digital news reports, the answer involves strange videos that show various objects getting smashed under the wheels of a car. Those clips, which are not so bizarre as far as YouTube standards go, come from the German channel HaerteTest, which made a big move from the 30th spot in the chart up to 10th. That advance has been propped up a consistent posting schedule; each day, HaerteTest has delivered a new round of crushed objects. A specific clip that mentions “crunchy” and “soft” objects gives us a clue that HaerteTest is at least partially catering to the ASMR community.

No matter the reason why people are tuning into these videos, the numbers they’re pulling is impressive. Over the past week, HaerteTest has received 279 million views, a 93% increase over the previous measured period. Those stats are big enough to crush most of the competition under a metaphorical tire.
