Each week, our ranking of the top 50 most-viewed YouTube channels in the world is dominated by two countries: India and the United States. This time out, those two countries are neck and neck, with each one claiming 16 of the 50 entrants in our global ranking. At the top of the chart, however, there is still no dispute. An Indian entertainment juggernaut continues to rise above the digital crowd to earn the #1 spot.

Chart Toppers

T-Series has been the #1 channel in this chart for the entirety of 2021, and its latest seven-day total — 906.3 million weekly views — is more than enough to hold off any challengers. The popular destination for Indian movie clips and music videos is followed by another; the #2 channel in this week’s global top 50 is SET India, a Sony-owned, South Asian hub that moved up one spot after registering 830.9 million weekly views.

The first American channel in the global top 50 is Cocomelon – Nursery Rhymes, which fell one spot from its previous chart position to wind up at #3. The Southern California-based producer of animations for children tallied a seven-day total of 673.9 million weekly views.

Sony SAB, which provides comedy content to the Indian market, also maintained its place in our global top five. The sister channel of SET India reached #4 for the second week in a row after picking up 522.3 million weekly views.

And once again, Like Nastya rounded out the worldwide top five. The US-based family vlog came close to surpassing Sony SAB, adding 511.5 million weekly views to its lifetime total.

Top Gainers

If you’re familiar with the Minecraft content scene, or if you pay close attention to these charts, you’re likely to recognize the name Aphmau. The nom de YouTube of American creator Jessica Bravura, Aphmau is one of the top gaming channels on the internet, as well as a regular entrant in our US Top 50. This week, Aphmau cracked the global ranking as well. Her 131.2 million weekly views were good enough to reach 46th place in our latest global chart, and that viewership represented a 70% week-over-week traffic jump.

Aphmau’s slow-but-steady rise up the global charts suggests that Jess has a good idea of how to harness YouTube trends, as well as the willpower and perseverance needed to feed the mysterious and demanding YouTube algorithm. One of her most popular recent videos uses a “birth to death” format as a chance for some good old-fashioned storytelling. As the 23-minute opus winds on, fans follow Aphmau through a Minecraft universe filled with friendship and romance. So far, the video has been viewed more than seven million times.

Jess’ success shows that Minecraft is still one of YouTube’s top categories. The Aphmau channel now has close to nine million subscribers.
